Join the Fiber Circle!  Bring your portable projects and hang out in the Fiber Circle and enjoy the warm and welcoming sense of community.

The Humboldt Handweavers and Spinners Guild  (www.hhsguild.org) offers a cozy space to relax and work and learn. The educational focus of the Fiber Circle this year is different kinds of fiber. Come and learn about the many different kinds of fibers  and explore the versatility of each  unique characteristic.

11 am - Arcata Historical Sites Society will demonstrate rug hooking throughout the fair

Erika Morlan will demonstrate needle felting

Noon - Nebo- Rock Ranch & Textiles- Janet Heppler will demonstrate how to prepare a  Handspinner’s Fleece for showing and to sell. She will cover how to skirt a fleece, what problems to look for in the wool, talk about different breeds of sheep and what their wool is used for and how to judge a fleece.         

Ben Cohoon & Ace Vandenack will demonstrate spinning in the fleece market

1 pm - Above the Fray will share details about Laos silk weaving

Curly Willow Alpacas - check out their "Guess who's" fiber display

2 pm -  Yarn - Sunni Scrivener will demonstrate cutting a Steek in knitting

3 pm - Sarah Shevett will provide details on growing & processing flax

4 pm - Wet felt a pint jar cosy with Hope Wright *

Julie Mueller-Brown will demonstrate a silk bracelet twining *

Sunday September 10, 2017
11 am - Una Walker will demonstrate punch needle rughooking
John Marshall will demonstrate fresh leaf indigo dyeing on silk
Noon - Spinning Contest located at the Fiber Circle
1 pm - Above the Fray will share their knowledge of hemp and

embroidery prepared in Vietnam's Lao Cai Province
Erika Morlan will demonstrate needle felting
2 pm -  Yarn - Sunni Scrivener will demonstrate knitting with a knitting belt

Betsy Neal will demonstrate spinning painted top or roving in three

different ways for different results in yarn. Bring your spinning wheel or spindle to

receive free samples
3 pm - Arbuckle Fiber Company will provide a hands on demonstration of felting soaps
