Teaching sustainable traditions for 27 years
The Natural Fiber Fair is now located in the quaint college town of Arcata, California up the highway from its former location of Redway, CA. September is a beautiful time of year to explore the North Coast. Arcata is a lively arts community bustling with returning college students and the festive farmers market on the town plaza. Fall is the perfect time for fiber artists to think about their winter projects. The Natural Fiber Fair inspires us with new skills and beautiful fibers.
Education is an important aspect of the Natural Fiber Fair. Every hour there are several demos and workshops to choose from. Learn about basket weaving, natural dyeing, spinning, knitting, felting, making rope from plant fibers, and more! Children can learn fiber skills as well in the kids’ crafts zone. Our vendors offer free demonstrations as well as hands-on workshops with a small materials fee. We have classroom space for longer, more in-depth workshops; pre-registration is encouraged for the in-depth workshops. Along with the fabulous exhibits there is something for everyone.
Natural Fibers are our focus. Vendors from northern California and Oregon bring fiber, tools, books, finished products, and much more. The Fleece Market features locally produced fibers and roving.
Many of us have come year after year and look forward to our special weekend set aside for good company, beautiful fibers, and learning new things. The food alone is worth coming for! Local chef Elisa Miller caters wholesome organic meals with an international flair, as well as delicious treats.
Look forward to seeing you there!
