Artist's Statement

I am a textile artist whose quilts are shaped by many sources of inspiration, especially the natural world around me. Through the lens of my camera, I capture moments, textures, and colors from nature that later find their way into my work. Recently, I have returned to my roots as a painter, creating quilts inspired by my paintings, as well as paintings that are enhanced through quilting.

Before becoming a quilter, I worked as an oil painter, and I continue to draw on that background in my textile practice. The rich textures of oil paint applied with a palette knife echo the layered textures I seek in the fabrics I choose and combine.

What excites me most is the interplay of color and texture within printed fabrics. I love bringing together patterns and colors that may seem unrelated at first glance and transforming them into a unified and expressive image. That process of discovery and connection is what makes my heart soar.
